Kapurthala | 13 November 2025

On 13 November 2025, the Centre of Training & Placement at I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) hosted a Joint Campus Placement Drive for techcadd at the Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Auditorium, IKGPTU Main Campus, Kapurthala. The university’s event report describes techcadd as an organisation working in CAD/CAM/CAE, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital skill development.

The programme brought company representatives and students together for a pre-placement interaction and a structured selection process, including a keynote address, a pre-placement talk by Mr. Gourav Gupta, Founder & CEO of techcadd, and an interactive question-and-answer session. An AI dog model was also exhibited during the talk.

What happened at IKGPTU

The visiting representatives were Mr. Gourav Gupta, Founder & CEO; Ms. Asmita Sehgal, HR Manager; Ms. Harrachneet Kaur, Relationship Manager; and Mr. Aman Sharma, AI Head. They were welcomed by Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, Registrar-cum-Deputy Director (T&P), followed by the keynote address.

The drive concluded with a token of appreciation and a vote of thanks delivered by Er. Mohit Jain, AR (T&P).

The selection process

The selection process comprised three stages:

  • Aptitude testNumerical reasoning, logical thinking and problem-solving under time.
  • Group discussionOrganising ideas, listening to others and contributing constructively.
  • Personal interviewAcademic background, projects, problem-solving approach and communication.

40 students shortlisted for the final round

The university report states that 40 students were shortlisted for the final round. A shortlist moves candidates forward in the process; it is not by itself a final hiring count.

Company interaction and the pre-placement talk

A pre-placement talk gives candidates an opportunity to learn about an organisation before or during a recruitment process: its broad areas of work, the questions worth asking, and how their skills may relate to the opportunities available.

This kind of interaction is most useful when questions are specific — entry-level responsibilities, day-to-day skills, training and mentorship, team structure, evaluation criteria and the next stages of recruitment.

How students can prepare for campus placements

  • Review the role and employer: responsibilities, required skills, eligibility and recruitment stages.
  • Build evidence through projects, and explain your own contribution accurately.
  • Practise a brief introduction and answer questions aloud without sounding memorised.
  • Keep your CV and documents accurate and up to date.
  • Use the pre-placement talk to ask informed questions about the role and timelines.

“Prepare carefully, communicate honestly and verify role-specific requirements through official channels.”

Campus placement drives create a structured setting for students to meet employers, practise assessment formats and understand professional expectations.
